About Nova Health · founded by a physiotherapist

We visit homes to provide better physiotherapy.

Nova Health was founded by a registered physiotherapist, with a team of nursing and therapy staff who work mainly full time. Saving older people the journey is only part of the aim. We want to give personalised treatment in the home the older person knows best, of a standard that a clinic may not reach.

Our story · an observation

Older people often do not want to exercise for reasons other than being unable to leave the house.

The real barrier is motivation, together with the different personality of each older person.

The founder, 王sir, has worked as a physiotherapist for many years and has seen the same scene many times. An exercise sheet is handed out and the movements are taught, but the older person is alone at home and puts it down within two days. It is not that they cannot do it. Nobody is with them, the goal is vague and the movements are dull, and the reasons to be active never catch up with the reasons not to be.

So the starting point of Nova Health is simple. Instead of asking older people to fit in with the treatment, we make the treatment fit the older person. Training is lively and interactive, matched to each person’s personality, interests and pace, so that the first step of starting is not so hard and carrying on gradually becomes a habit.

In the Chinese name 芯凝, “芯” stands for the different heart of each older person, and “凝” stands for gathering professional care at home. This is what the name means.

Our commitment

Mission · Vision · Four beliefs

OUR MISSION

Help older people become willing to be active at home

We design exercise and care plans that each older person can do and is willing to do, so that they recover with peace of mind at home and regain self-care and dignity.

OUR VISION

Redefining home physiotherapy

Home physiotherapy should not be a watered-down version of clinic treatment. We want it to be a more personal and higher-quality choice, and to become the most trusted home rehabilitation brand in Hong Kong.

We believe

01

Motivation first

The barrier to exercising at home is motivation, and leaving the house is not the issue. Lively, interactive training makes older people willing to start and able to keep going.

02

A just-right challenge

A one-to-one session should not be wasted. We design “just-right” functional exercises that carry over to daily life, and avoid simply pedalling a bike, pulling a rope or kicking a sandbag.

03

Equipment brought into the home

We choose cost-effective home treatment equipment, weighing results against budget, so that clinic-grade treatment can be done at home.

04

A stable full-time team

Physiotherapists and nurses form a full-time core, so staffing is stable and does not change often. Service stays continuous and quality stays steady.

A word from the founder

Home physiotherapy can be done better.

Nova Health founder and physiotherapist 王sir giving home rehabilitation to an older person

The sentence I least want to hear: “Home visits are just pulling rubber bands and kicking sandbags.”

One-to-one home visits are in fact the ideal setting for physiotherapy: a whole hour belongs to one older person, with no clinic rush and no waiting. The only question is whether we make serious use of that opportunity.

Show more So at Nova Health I ask for several things in every session. Training must be lively and interactive, so that the older person really has motivation. The difficulty must be a “just-right challenge”, with functional exercise close to daily life that carries over after practice, and not sandbags, bike pedalling and rope pulling done for the sake of doing them. Equipment must be chosen for cost-effectiveness, so that clinic-grade treatment is affordable at home. The team must be stable and built on full-time staff, so that we can follow cases for longer and in more depth. I want to show that home physiotherapy is higher-quality physiotherapy.
